For Parents and Players
Purpose
The goal of this Code of Conduct is to promote respectful behavior, ensure a safe and supportive environment, and reinforce the values of teamwork, integrity, and enjoyment in recreational sports and activities.
Section 1: Code of Conduct for Parents
1.1 Behavior Expectations
- Always demonstrate positive support for all players, coaches, officials, and other spectators.
- Refrain from the use of foul language, abusive behavior, or aggressive conduct at games and practices.
- Respect all referees and officials and accept their decisions without argument or criticism.
- Encourage fair play and good sportsmanship from your child and other players.
1.2 Communication & Support
- Support coaches and volunteers by trusting their decisions and avoiding sideline coaching.
- Communicate concerns respectfully and constructively through appropriate channels (e.g., program director, coach meetings).
- Ensure your child attends practices and games regularly and arrives on time.
- – Provide timely notification if your child will be absent from an activity.
1.3 Safety and Respect
- Make sure your child is physically and emotionally ready to participate.
- Help enforce team rules and guidelines.
- Model and encourage respect for facilities, equipment, and others.
1.4 Prohibited Behaviors
- No use of alcohol, tobacco, or drugs at recreation events.
- No physical or verbal abuse toward any participant, coach, or official.
- No attempts to influence game outcomes or manipulate team assignments.
Section 2: Code of Conduct for Players
2.1 Commitment to Sportsmanship
- Show respect for coaches, teammates, opponents, and officials at all times.
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship, regardless of the score.
- Accept decisions made by officials without argument.
2.2 Participation and Effort
- Always try your best in practices and games.
- Be on time, prepared, and committed to your team.
- Support and encourage your teammates.
2.3 Behavior and Respect
- Follow all team and recreation department rules.
- Use appropriate language and demonstrate self-control.
- Respect the equipment and facilities provided.
2.4 Prohibited Behaviors
- No bullying, intimidation, or harassment of others.
- No use of profanity or inappropriate gestures.
- No fighting or roughhousing.
Section 3: Enforcement and Disciplinary Action
3.1 Reporting Issues
- Concerns about conduct should be reported to coaches or recreation staff promptly.
- All reports will be handled confidentially and respectfully.
3.2 Disciplinary Measures
Depending on the severity or frequency of the misconduct, disciplinary action may include:
- Verbal warning
- Written warning
- Suspension from games or practices
- Removal from the team or program
- Banning from attending future events (for parents)
Section 4: Acknowledgment
Parent and Player Agreement
All parents and players must sign an acknowledgment form agreeing to uphold this Code of Conduct as a condition of participation in recreation programs.
